You Won’t Believe What Happened at the Old Country Club of Tuscaloosa
I received a special holiday surprise when visiting the old Tuscaloosa Country Club yesterday afternoon.
I needed to get out of the house. It was Sunday, and I had been in sweatpants and eating Christmas candy since Wednesday afternoon, so yeah--your girl was in dire need of some fresh air and physical activity.
I took my eight-year-old daughter to Van deGraaff Park. We hiked for a bit and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the arboretum and had fun walking across the iron bridge and the crazy suspension bridge. 10/10 park experience at Van deGraaff.
We then headed over to the Oliver Lock and Dam to see the mighty Black Warrior River. We chilled on an embankment for a good 15 minutes and while staring across the river, my daughter wanted to know what the buildings she saw were.
I knew she was referring to the old Country Club of Tuscaloosa, so I wanted to take her there. We drove to the site of the old club, and I planned on getting out and walking around to show her the eerie and abandoned spot.
This never happened.
Why, you ask?
When we rolled up to the old country club (at like 2:30 in the afternoon aka THE BROAD DAYLIGHT) there was a bare-cheeked man and his, uh, special lady friend just GOING AT IT on a Scion in the parking lot.
Needless to say, I peeled out of that parking lot ASAP.
I hope those two lovebirds had a nice afternoon. I'd like to know when it's safe to visit the country club again.
