According to Variety, Academy Award-winner Jon Voight has been cast to play legendary coach Paul "Bear" Bryant in the movie 'Woodlawn,' currently shooting in Birmingham.

The story will focus on Tony Nathan, the African-American player that was recruited by Bryant to play for the University of Alabama at a tumultuous time when integration was being forced in Alabama High Schools. During his stint with the Tide, Nathan rushed for 1,997 yards with 29 touchdowns and a 6.4 yards per carry average.

'Woodlawn' will focus mainly on the Banks vs. Woodlawn game, which drew over 40,000 spectators at Legion Field in 1974. Along with Voight being cast as Byant, the role of Tony Nathan will be played by Caleb Castille son of former Alabama running back and Tampa Bay Bucaneer Jeremiah Castille.
