The other day I was Joking on air abot it not raining here in west Alabama, in fact it hasn't rained in now almost 30 days. It's starting to get real folks There were giant leaps in the percentages of land in Alabama covered by the various stages of drought, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. It's been crazy, with all the rain Louisana got a couple months ago, it all missed Alabama. Then with the Hurricane up the coat a couple of weekes ago, How we didn't get any rain from that is beyond me. The condition was perfect in a sense for us not to get rain.

A drought emergency has been declared for 28 north Alabama counties and an outdoor burn ban is in place for much of the state.

Rain expected Thursday in north Alabama will do little to slow the drought conditions, according to the National Weather Service. There has been no measurable rain at Huntsville International Airport in more than a month.
