  • According to Tuscaloosa Police, yesterday, officers responded to a call in the 3200 Block of Culver Rd, and when the officer arrived on the scene and moved towards the residence, 19-year-old Aderemi Onasanya stuck his arm out the front door and fired multiple shots, the officer was injured in his hand, and the residence across the street was struck by bullets. Onasanya WAS charged with attempted murder, Assault 2nd Degree, and Shooting into an occupied dwelling, but the attempted murder charge has been changed to reckless endangerment.

 

  • In state news, a federal judge has approved a $525 million settlement between BP PLC and the Securities and Exchange Commission over statements the company made during the 2010 Gulf oil spill.

 

  • The Pentagon says Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has signed an order to deploy Patriot air defense missiles and 400 troops to operate the batteries as part of NATO aid to Turkey for defense against possible attacks from Syria.
