Press Release

Tuscaloosa, Al (July 9, 2021) – Baumhower’s Victory Grill is excited to announce their partnership with Camping World and the University of Alabama Basketball Team to help fight hunger and serve those in need in local communities, with their first event to kick off the Plating Change Initiative. This event will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, from 11:30am – 1:30pm at The Alberta School of Performing Arts, 2700 University Blvd. E. in Tuscaloosa, Al. The event is being held by the College Hill Missionary Baptist Church and will serve anyone in need of a meal in the East Tuscaloosa community.

Baumhower’s Victory Grille will be providing 100 meals to those in need, which will include their signature grilled chicken dish, Black and White Chicken – mojo marinated, lemon pepper seasoned grilled chicken breast with a side of their signature White BBQ sauce, accompanied by green beans and wild rice. The meals will be served individually in a drive by pickup line. In addition to the event on Saturday, they will host another event on the second Saturday in August, as well as future dates to benefit other organizations including Mind Changers, Boys & Girls Club of Tuscaloosa and The Foundry, among others across the state. Over a period of about six months, Baumhower’s and the Plating Change Initiative plan to feed a total of around 5,000 people.

"We at Baumhower's Victory Grille, feel honored and humbled to be part of the Camping World and University of Alabama Basketball Team's Plating Change initiative. We can't think of a better way to kick off this campaign than by partnering with College Hill Missionary Baptist Church, led by Dr. Kelvin Croom. Dr. Croom has been a longtime friend since my days at Tuscaloosa High School and the University of Alabama. He is part of countless goodwill initiatives in the community,” said Bob Baumhower.

Donations making this event possible were provided by Camping World and an anonymous musician from Alabama. As part of the Camping World Maui Invitational, Camping World offered to donate funds for every 3-point shot made back to a restaurant/organization in the school’s local community. Camping World asked each school participating in the tournament to select a local restaurant/organization in their school community to be the recipient of the money they raised during the tournament. Alabama selected Baumhower’s Victory Grille to be the recipient of their winnings.

“Servant leadership and being “Born to serve” has always been something that is deeply woven into the fabric of who we are as a company. Whether it is our guests, our team, or our communities, we always love the opportunity to serve others and give back. We are very appreciative of being able to partner on this with some wonderful organizations like Mind Changers, Boys & Girls Club of Tuscaloosa and The Foundry, and are fired up to get to

work and create a legendary impact here for the amazing people in our communities statewide,” said Spencer Baumhower, Chief Operations Officer.

The College Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa is also passionate about their local outreach programs. In addition to this event, some of their other programs include Band of Brothers and Ladies on a Mission, who initiate community food drives and feeding missions for those in need. Rev. Dr. Kelvin W. Croom, Senior Pastor is a church founder and has served as the Senior Pastor for the last seven years.
