A 53-year-old man suffered several injuries after he was abducted and beaten, then dropped off in McCalla and shot in the leg, according to police sources.

Captain Kip Hart, the assistant commander of the Tuscaloosa County Violent Crimes Unit, said police were called to Sycamore Road in McCalla around 6 p.m. Saturday, where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.

The man told police that two men in a vehicle abducted him in another county and drove around on 1-20/59 as they beat him. The abductors exited off the interstate, kicked the man out of their car and demanded he walk away from them. He told police he was then shot in the upper thigh with a rifle.

The victim was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center in Northport, where Hart said he is being treated for multiple injuries.

Investigators are still processing the scene and have not yet developed any suspects or made any arrests.
