Mr. Archibald has been a civic leader in West Alabama for numerous years, and this past weekend, he accomplished one of his most significant goals: Mr. Archibald… At the age of 77, graduated from Stillman College.

For his self-provided biography, he submitted the following:

My name is Robert Lee Archibald and I am a native of Eutaw, Greene County, Alabama. I attended Carver High School from the first grade through the tenth grade before moving to Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 1959. After graduating from Druid High School in May of 1961, I enrolled in Stillman College in September of the same year. I attended Stillman College until May of 1963 after which I joined the United States Air Force (July 1963) where I remained until March of 1968.

After being discharged from the USAF I was employed by BF Goodrich Tire and Rubber Company, in Tuscaloosa, for 37 years and 4 months.

I am the father of four children, the grandfather of 12, the step-grandfather of 3, and the great-grandfather of 12.

I have been a YMCA board member for over 15 years; I am also a member of the Barnes Advisory Council and a member of the Barnes Y-Men Club.

I have a diploma in Upholstery from Tuscaloosa State Technical College and a Diploma in Small Engine Repair form C.A. Fred State Trade School. But, to fulfill a life-long dream of being the recipient of a college degree, I decided to enroll in Stillman College again in 2017. On September 5, 2020 graduating CUM LAUDE from Stillman College a Degree of “Bachelor of Science in Business Administration” was conferred on Robert L. Archibald.

I am hoping that my aspiration will be an inspiration for my siblings, my offspring, and the rest of my family and friends.

An inspiration he is indeed!

Now, what Mr. Archibald’s bio does not state is that he completed his degree by taking online courses. Again, he is 77 years old!  Talk about a phenomenon!

And if you think that’s something, there’s more… In a direct conversation, Mr. Archibald revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2015.

So, let’s put this all together…. At the age of 77, while fighting cancer, Mr. Archibald took online courses to complete his degree!

THIS is definitely worth honor.  Remember the name and the face so should you ever come across Mr. Robert Archibald, you can give him his flowers. “Hey, you’re that guy…..”

And that guy is absolutely amazing!
