Let’s get ready to vote in Alabama.  I know it is just September, but the time is now to prepare for Election Day, which is Tuesday, November 3, 2020.  Click here to receive election reminders from Rock the Vote.

My thoughts about voting are pretty simple.  Regardless of who you vote for, when you don’t vote, in my opinion, you are basically letting others decided for you.  Even if you are not sure who you are voting for, get registered to vote, and do your research ahead of the election.

How to get registered to vote

If you are not registered to vote yet, you still have time but don’t wait.  According to Rock The Vote, “the deadline for voter registration for the Alabama General Election on November 3, 2020, is that it must be “received by Monday, October 19, 2020, and online by Monday, October 19, 2020.”

According to the Alabama Secretary of State, they “can also mail you a voter registration form if you prefer. To request an application, you may complete an on-line request, call us on our Voter Hotline at 1-800-274-8683, or write to us at the address listed above. Please be sure to include a complete mailing address and the number of forms that you need.”  But, please remember the deadline is October 19, 2020.

Unsure if you are registered to vote or just want to double-check, it’s super easy.  Click here for the Alabama Secretary of State and Alabama Votes to confirm your address, party association, ballot statues, and polling place locations.  It took me less than 20 seconds to find out if I was registered to vote.  My status showed active, also gave me my ballot style, and my districts for city, county school, and senate.  All I inputted was my first name, last name, and date of birth.
