The Alabama Department of Public Health has launched a new website where residents can more easily check their eligibility for and make appointments to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Alabamians can now visit the Alabama Covid Vaccine Scheduling Portal to check vaccine eligibility in their respective counties and sign up for an appointment to be vaccinated.

The ADPH's new site also provides information on the actual vaccine and how to best prepare for vaccine appointments.

The state of Alabama continues to struggle to meet the demand for the vaccine, as more than 326,000 healthcare workers and nearly 350,000 people over the age of 75 now qualify to receive the vaccine. Come February 8th, an additional 1 million people age 65 of older along with frontline critical workers will be eligible.

The ADPH warns that sites listed on the portal will have limited supplies of the vaccine available. Based on current assessments and expectations for shipments, available doses for the month of February will be mostly dedicated to providing second doses to those already vaccinated.

For general information about COVID-19, the COVID-19 Information Hotline number is 1-800-270-7268.
