ADPH Overwhelmed with COVID-19 Vaccine Requests

The Alabama Department of Public Health announced Friday that it would soon begin scheduling COVID-19 vaccination appointments for the elderly and first responders, and the health agency was inundated with appointment requests this weekend.

The ADPH's vaccination request hotline received 1.1 million calls on Saturday alone.

The healthcare agency also says many local hospitals were overwhelmed with calls requesting vaccine information, and the ADPH urges the public to only call its hotline and not local hospitals.

Those wishing to obtain a vaccination must do so through the ADPH by calling 1-855-566-5333. Calls will be answered seven days a week from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m.
