Alabama Cold Snap Update Plus Find Out What Cities Broke Records
Alabamians are experiencing the coldest temperatures of the season even with some cities in the Yellowhammer State breaking records.
The high temperature on Tuesday, October 18th in Tuscaloosa was 56 degrees. According to the National Weather Service, “this breaks the old record low maximum temperature for October 18th which was 58 degrees in 1966.”
In Birmingham, it hit 54 degrees, which broke an “old record low maximum temperature for October 18th which was 55 degrees in 1955.” Also, in Montgomery, it was 58 degrees which “breaks the old record low maximum temperature for October 18th which was 60 degrees in 2009.” The city of Anniston tied a "record low in 1955 with 54 degrees," said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.
New Freeze Warning Information
The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a NEW Freeze Warning that is valid on Wednesday, October 19, at 10:00 pm for Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Blount, Bullock, Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Etowah, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Marion, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Randolph, Russell, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston counties until Thursday, October 20, 9:00 am.
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that we can “expect sun in full force across Alabama today with a high in the 57-63 degree range. Another freeze is likely late tonight for most of the state... we project lows in the 25-35 degree range early tomorrow morning; a freeze warning is in effect. Then, we warm into the mid-60s tomorrow afternoon with a sunny sky.”

It looks like the Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa coverage area will range with highs between 60 and 62 for today with Walker and Lamar counties with the coldest lows.
