Alabama Comedian Hosts Tuscaloosa Breast Cancer Awareness Event

Alabama Comedian and Townsquare Media radio personality, Lamar “LP” Pullom feels that Breast Cancer awareness is extremely important. He has witnessed firsthand “several family members and friends” battle the disease.

Pullom is inviting the community out to “We Treasure Our Chests” on Sunday, October 30 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Bobby Miller Center located at 300 Bobby Miller Parkways in Tuscaloosa. The event is free but donations are appreciated.

The event presented by Pullom and Title Town TV will feature “vendors that cater to women’s health and skincare along with breast cancer survivors that will be celebrated and present their story, said Pullom. In addition there will be information provided to “further educate you on how to get checked.”

Almost everyone has a story about how breast cancer has impacted their life or those of their family and friends. Pullom is no stranger to that, a close friend of his “lost a family member to breast cancer 2 years ago. She was unaware of her breast cancer until it was too late, so I decided that once COVID settled down, I will help motivate people to get checked to prevent any more situations like such to occur.”

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that “each year in the United States, about 264,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women and about 2,400 in men. About 42,000 women and 500 men in the U.S. die each year from breast cancer. Black women have a higher rate of death from breast cancer than White women.”

“Come out and enjoy this charity event along with educating yourself on breast cancer and where you can go to get checked. Not only can women get breast cancer but men can as well,” said Pullom.
