Alabama Could Get Hit with Triple-Digit Temperatures This Week
June 21st marks the first day of astronomical summer with the summer solstice. It ends up being the longest day and the shortest night as well.
However, for Alabama and many states across the nation, the official kick-off to summer starts with a brutal heat wave.
This week West and Central Alabama are faced with some extreme temperatures. According to James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist “The highs will be in the mid-90s today and in the 95-100 degree range tomorrow through Friday as the upper high persists across the region. Scattered showers/storms today will be confined to the southwest corner of the state.
"A few isolated afternoon storms are possible tomorrow through Friday, but the odds of any one spot getting wet remain low. Scattered showers and storms should be a little more numerous over the weekend, as the air aloft will be colder," said Spann.
