Another Innocent Bystander Shot Through Wall of Apartment During Robbery
For the second time this summer, an innocent bystander has been hurt after a bullet fired during a robbery outside their apartment penetrated an exterior wall and struck them inside.
Lt. Jack Kennedy, the assistant commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said police were called to Treetop Apartments around 9 o'clock Tuesday night on reports of a shooting.
Investigators believe there was a robbery at one of the apartments there, and that the perpetrators fired several shots from a handgun as they were pursued by their victims.
One of the rounds fired penetrated the exterior wall of another apartment and struck an occupant there in the head.
Kennedy said the victim's wounds are not life-threatening.
Anyone who witnessed these events or believes that they have any information is encouraged to contact the Violent Crimes Units at (205) 464-8690.
The case is remarkably similar to a more tragic shooting that took place last month, when 24-year-old Anthony Killings was killed by a stray bullet as he slept in his bed Parker 301 Apartments Complex.
