The temperature set up for this week is like an old-school seesaw, up and down. Right now our area is experiencing below-average temperatures then we will transition to a brief warm-up and then by Saturday another cold snap.

We do have a “Freeze Warning” until 10 a.m. for areas along and north of I-85. The “Freeze Watch” for the southeastern counties this morning has been canceled.

Also, there is a “Freeze Warning” for Wednesday Midnight until Wednesday at 8 a.m. where the low is expected at 28 degrees which includes our coverage area.

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that “today will be sunny and cool with a high in the 50s for North Alabama, with 60s to the south. Then, another freeze is likely for the northern 2/3 of the state late tonight and early tomorrow.”

Our dry weather will continue through Thursday when temps could warm up the to high 60s to the mid-70s. As of right now, rain is in the outlook for Friday with some thunderstorms.

Weekend Outlook

Spann mentioned that there will be “another shot of cold air rolls into the state Saturday. The sky becomes partly to mostly sunny, with highs ranging from the upper 40s over the northern third of the state to the 60s for South Alabama.”

Could there be ANOTHER late season freeze for Sunday?

It’s possible. “We project a low in the 22-32 degree range over the northern counties. Sunday will be a sunny, cool day with highs in the 50s and 60s,” said Spann.
