Beware Of Fake Calls From The IRS

This actually happened to me fortunately I was aware of the scam and recognized it right off the bat. After I finished asking questions and challenging the scammer she was so frustrated, I could tell she was very angry when she hung up.

This is tax season and not everyone is aware of how the Internal Revenue Service attempts to collect tax debts. The IRS will not call you demanding you wire them money or put money on a prepaid debit card.  If you get a call from anyone claiming to be the IRS and demanding that you wire them money or put money on a prepaid debit card hang up the phone. It is not the IRS. If you get a call from someone claiming to be a collection agency for the IRS hang up the phone as fast as you can.

These scammers are good and can be very convincing if you don’t know better. Here is what a fake call from the IRS sounds like.

The IRS will not call you with outrageous demands. They always send you a letter.
