It is again time to celebrate the 'history' of African Americans in this

country. After hundreds of years of oppression we as a people have

persevered. Overcoming countless obstacles in our journey to be

regarded as equal. Carter G. Woodson is known as the 'Father of Black

History' and his creation of Negro History Week is the fore bearer of what

is now Black History Month. We should know that Black History Month is

an everyday celebration that we should embrace not for just a month, but

everyday. From the beginning of time, the contributions of our ancestors

has been somewhat over looked. It is now time to look at what we as a

people have accomplished and what we still have to accomplish. Black

History Month is not just in February but 365 days a year.
