According to the National Weather Service, an “area of low pressure will set up west of Central Alabama as we go into the week, with periods of rainfall expected through Wednesday.  Some flooding will be possible across portions of the area.”

Threats

Heavy rainfall of 2-4 inches with locally higher amounts could lead to flood concerns, both flash flooding as well as river flooding. Please remember the following when dealing with flooding.

Don’t drive through moving or standing water

It only takes 6 inches of flowing water to sweep you off your feet.

If you can’t see the road, turn around. Don’t drive around barricades.

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that this “upper low will set up west of Alabama over the next few days, bringing unsettled weather to the state. Expect occasional showers and a few thunderstorms today and during the first half of the coming week. Rain amounts of 2-3 inches are likely for much of the state. Severe storms are not expected, and we begin to trend drier by Friday. The weekend (October 9-10) looks dry and pleasant at this point.”
