After yesterday’s storms passed through our area, it left behind some chilly temperatures. This morning some of our listening areas woke up to temperatures in the high 30s and low 40s. The National Weather Service in Birmingham has upgraded the previous Freeze Watch to a “Freeze Warning for all of Central AL Thursday night and Friday morning. Temperatures will fall into the mid-20s north to low 30s south.”

What you can expect is “sub-freezing temperatures as low as 28 expected. For the Wind Advisory, north winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph expected.” The Freeze Warning timeframe is from 1 am to 9 am on Friday, April 2, 2021.

As we prepare for this widespread freeze, temperatures will start to fall below freezing after 1 am on Friday. It would help if you were to protect outdoor animals, plants, and plumbing from these potential freezing conditions. Prepare now because freezing and the potential for bursting water pipes is not ideal.

Looking ahead to the weekend, James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist notes that this Easter Weekend there could be “another freeze is possible Saturday morning... we project a low in the 27-34 degree range over the northern half of the state. Then, a warming trend begins. Sunny weather continues; the high Saturday will be in the mid-60s, followed by low 70s Sunday.”
