Damaging Winds, Hail Expected in Parts of Central, West Alabama

There is a chance for “some isolated severe storms this afternoon through this evening. Scattered to numerous showers and storms are expected to develop within a warm and humid air mass ahead of an approaching surface front to our north," said the National Weather Service in Birmingham.

Timeline

The timing of these storms is today from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m. and could impact portions of the Townsquare Media coverage area. This severe weather risk includes the northern half of Central Alabama. This includes listeners in Tuscaloosa, Pickens, Lamar, Fayette, and Walker counties. This also includes a small portion of Greene, Hale, and Bibb counties.

Threats

James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that a “chance of any one location seeing rain today is 50-60 percent, and like yesterday some of the storms will produce heavy rain, small hail, and gusty winds.”
