Forecaster Note: The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued an update to the severe weather risk zones for today. This new information has been posted at 9:15 a.m.

Communities across the Midwest and Great Plains are now recovering after an intense severe weather outbreak that led to “numerous damaging tornadoes that killed at least eight people and injured dozens more,” said The Weather Channel.

Now, the Townsquare Media Weather Center is tracking the potential for severe weather across Texas, the Midwest, the Southern States (including Alabama), and the system moving to the Northeast.

Hale: 4 p.m. – Midnight - Marginal Risk with a small Western section in Slight Risk

Lamar: 3 p.m. – 10 p.m. - Slight Risk

Perry: 6 p.m. – Midnight - Marginal Risk

Pickens: 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. - Slight Risk

Sumter: 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. - Slight Risk

Tuscaloosa: 4 p.m. – Midnight - Split between Marginal and Slight Risk
