The state of Michigan is preparing to make the announcement that they will pay $600 million dollars to the victims of the water crisis in Flint according to the Associated Press.

As you know over 25,000 people including 5,000 young children got sick over lead poisoning for nearly two years after the city switched its water supply from Lake Huron to the polluted Flint River in 2014 to cut costs.

They were ignored for months as complaints about the water saying it tasted like metallic as reported being sick after drinking it which lead to losing hair, developing rashes and more.

Ryan Jarvi, who is a spokesman for Nessel declined for comment to confirm a new deal last night (Wednesday August 19th).

We and the other parties are bound by a federal court order to maintain the confidentiality of detailed settlement and mediation communications until we reach a certain point.  We have not yet reached the point where we can discuss a potential settlement.

A good portion of the residents of Flint will be eligible for the settlement money with most of it going to children.

Currently Flint's water is now coming from Lake Huron again, and the city is finishing up a project to replace the lead service lines.
