Find Unforgettable Fun Under 5 Hours Away in Knoxville, Tennessee
Let’s head out to Knoxville, Tennessee, for a long weekend. The best news is that it is 4 hours and 30 minutes from Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Long weekends are awesome because it’s just enough time to visit and explore and get back home to reality.
When it comes to planning your trip to Knoxville, Tennessee, you plan it out or freestyle it. I like both. It truly depends on if I am traveling solo or with a group. Honestly, I like to plan outings but ask locals about restaurant options because they tell you the truth.
Here is my Knoxville, Tennessee Hit List
Attraction-wise, you have tons of options like the Zoo Knoxville, Knoxville Museum of Art, East Tennessee History Center, Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, Three Rivers Rambler (great picture-taking spots), and Alex Haley Heritage Square.
To do some good ole fashioned exploring trying Market Square, Historic Gay Street, and Historic Old City. Market Square offers the best downtown options for shopping, eating, and people-watching. Historic Gay Street has an awesome collection of cultural experiences that you must check out. It ranges from art galleries to parks, unique restaurants, to museums. Historic Old City brings you back to a “back in the day” vibe. Coffee Shops, art galleries, breweries, restaurants, and nightlife can all be found in this section too. Honestly, you could spend a whole day at each of these locations.
Let’s talk FOOD and DRINKS.
My day can’t start without Coffee. My favorite spot is Honeybee Coffee on Sevier Avenue. I love the designs they create before they serve your cup of java to you.
You must have breakfast at Long’s Drugstore and Fountain. Super friendly place! Yes, it’s a drugstore, and the food is fantastic.
Great restaurants to try out for lunch or dinner are Café 4 at Market Square, Calhoun’s On The River, The French Market Creperie, Matt Robb’s Biscuits & Brew, Myrtle’s Chicken & Beer, Sweet P’s BBQ, and Yassin’s Falafel House. There are so many great places; you can visit Knoxville several times a year and try a new restaurant.
As much as Knoxville, Tennessee is packed with history and heritage. It is also filled with arts and culture. It also offers attractions, unique dining experiences, and nightlife to make for a wonderful long weekend getaway.
