Former President George W Bush Will Join President Obama At The March In Selma
It was March 1965 when law enforcement officers attacked civil rights marchers on the Edmund Pettus Bridge. The incident occurred when about 600 Blacks left the Brown Chapel AME Church for the 50 mile march to Montgomery.
The march was led by SCLC’s Hosea Williams and SNCC’s John Lewis. As the marchers crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge about 100 State Troopers under the command of Major John Cloud blocked their path. The marchers were attacked by the troopers.
This year Former President George W. Bush will join President Barrack Obama at the 50thanniversary of the voting rights march in Selma on March 7.
