Frank Ocean Sues Producer Om’Mas Keith Over ‘Blonde’ Songwriting Credits
TMZ reports that Frank Ocean is suing producer Om'Mas Keith.
Frank hired the producer in 2014 to produce master recordings for his Blonde album, which was released in 2016. The singer claims Om'Mas is trying to get credit for co-writing songs on the project.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, Frank says Om'Mas registered with ASCAP, and says he co-wrote 11 songs for the album, including "Pink + White," and "Ivy." However, Frank says that isn't what really went down.
Frank says he hired Om'Mas to to work on master recordings and paid him a flat fee. And that's it, He says the producer didn't write, produce or do anything else at it pertains to the creation of the music. Now, he's suing in attempt to get a judge to block Om'Mas from getting songwriting credits.
Just a week ago, Frank offered new music with a surprise cover of "Moon River," leaving fans to speculate if he has more new music on the horizon, especially since he teased the possibility of new music with one of his cryptic Tumblr messages back in early January.
At any rate, we'll have to see how the legal battle with Frank and Om'Mas pans out.
