Freezing Fog Advisory: Possible Slick Spots and Low Visibility
Please be alert to weather and road conditions due to the Freezing Fog Advisory issued by the National Weather Service. This covers Blount, Fayette, Jefferson, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston counties until 8 am on Thursday, January 14, 2021.
The National Weather Service Birmingham noted that “freezing fog will drop visibilities less than a one-half mile at times for parts of northwest and north-central Alabama. These conditions will develop near Jasper, Fayette, Vernon, Hamilton, Haleyville, Oneaota, Double Springs, and surrounding communities. This fog, combined with temperatures at or below freezing, will potentially produce some slick spots on bridges and overpasses and form very light ice on exposed surfaces. Use extra caution when traveling overnight.”
