‘Get Out’ Is Officially The Most Profitable Movie of 2017
Jordan Peele is currently the man in Hollywood. His critically acclaimed racism-horror movie Get Out is now the most profitable film of 2017, according to The Wrap.
The flick cost $4.5 million to make and had a $30 million marketing budget. As of now, Get Out has grossed $175 million globally $252 million domestically at the box office.
Blumhouse Productions, the production company behind the film, is seeing plenty of green due to Get Out’s success. In addition to Peele's film, the company's other movie, the M. Night Shyamalan-directed psychological thriller Split, has grossed $277 million at the global box office. M. Night Shyamalan was given $9 million to make the film so clearly Blumhouse got that money back and then some.
Meanwhile, the success of Get Out has made Peele the most sought-after director in Hollywood. The 38-year-old filmmaker has another horror movie coming out via Universal Pictures on March 15, 2019. The untitled movie will serve as another social thriller written, directed and produced by Peele. In addition, Peele will write a Jim Crow horror series for HBO.
Congratulations to Jordan Peele.
