Philon was a standout freshman guard for the Crimson Tide during the 2024-25 season. The top-40 recruit averaged 10.6 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, with a 45.2 field goal percentage. Midway through the season, Philon gained much attention from the NBA, with many projecting him being selected in the middle of the first round or as an early second-round selection.

The 6-foot-4 point guard started in 29 of 37 games, where he displayed an impressive finishing ability, defensive instincts, great playmaking ability, and the ability to knock down 3-pointers in crucial moments.

On Monday, Philon appeared as the No. 27 prospect on the 2025 NBA Draft Big Board of the top 60 prospects, according to Kevin O'Connor, an NBA Senior Analyst.

"Philon is a shifty point guard with a buttery floater, advanced pick-and-roll playmaking and a deceptive handle that lets him control the tempo. His feathery touch teases untapped shooting potential, but he’s got to prove it to become an offensive maestro," said O'Connor.

With Philon remaining in the NBA Draft, he, Mark Sears, and Grant Nelson have the opportunity to add to coach Nate Oats' record of players becoming a part of the NBA under him, which currently has six.

Furthermore, with the confirmed loss of Philon, Alabama has two roster spots available as they currently only have 11 players on the roster.
