The number one player in the transfer portal so far is a name that football fans in the state of Alabama will be very familiar with: Auburn wide receiver Cam Coleman.

Coleman, a 6-foot-3, 201-pound wide receiver from Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama, originally committed to the Auburn Tigers as a five-star, top-five prospect in the 2024 recruiting cycle. Coleman was ranked as the No. 2 receiver in the class and the top player in the state of Alabama at the time. His tenure with the Auburn Tigers hasn't produced as strong results on the field due to the lack of a passing attack for the Tigers. Still, though, Coleman has put up 93 receptions for 1,306 yards and 13 touchdowns in two seasons with Auburn.

Coleman entered the portal and immediately became the top option available, with many fans clamoring for their program to get him. Alabama defensive back Red Morgan got involved as well, recruiting Coleman on his Instagram page to come to Tuscaloosa.

Coleman will schedule multiple visits and be smart with his transfer process, but Alabama will get a crack at the top receiving threat available, with Bobby Burton reporting that Coleman will take a visit to Alabama. The report was later confirmed by Pete Thamel of ESPN.

Coleman is also planning to take visits to Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and USC in addition to Alabama.

The transfer portal officially opened on Friday, January 2, and will remain open for 15 days.
