Anderson's new contract, signed just three seasons after he was drafted by the Texans with the third overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, is a three-year, $150 million extension with $100 million fully guaranteed, surpassing Green Bay Packers edge rusher Micah Parsons as the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL with $50 million per season. The contract also includes a no-trade clause for Anderson.

The Texans took Anderson with the third overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, and he has been a wrecking ball ever since he stepped foot in the league. During his rookie campaign, Anderson started 13 games, appearing in 15, making 45 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, seven sacks, 22 quarterback hits, and recording one pass breakup. He won Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2023 and was named to the Pro Bowl in his first season in the NFL.

During his professional career (three seasons), Anderson has totaled 136 tackles, 30 sacks, 64 quarterback hits, 46 tackles for loss, six passes swatted down, four forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries, including a scoop-and-score during the 2025 season. Anderson is a two-time Pro Bowler and finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting this past season, being named a First Team All-Pro.

At Alabama, Anderson was almost always the best player on any field he stepped on, totaling 205 tackles, 62 tackles for loss, 34.5 sacks, four passes swatted, one forced fumble, and one interception, which Anderson took for six points on defense. During his three seasons with the Crimson Tide, Anderson won the following honors:

2021 Bronko Nagurski
2021 SEC Defensive Player of the Year
2021 Consensus All-American (Unanimous)
2022 Bronko Nagurski Award
2022 Chuck Bednarik Award
2022 Consensus All-American (Unanimous)
2022 Ronnie Lott Trophy
2022 Vince Lombardi Award
2022 SEC Defensive Player of the Year
