Frosty Weather Sticks Around Alabama During the Holiday Weekend
Alabamians are experiencing one of the coldest Christmas holiday weekends in a very long time.
At sunrise this morning in Tuscaloosa it was 13 degrees. The coldest Alabama town was Tuckers Chapel at 4 degrees and the warmest was Mobile at 20 degrees.
Holiday Weekend Outlook
James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that the “arctic air will remain in place across Alabama through the Christmas weekend; it will be Monday before many communities over the northern part of the state see temperatures above freezing. Expect lows in the 10-20 degree range tomorrow and Monday morning... a freeze is likely all the way down to the Gulf Coast. The air remains very dry, and we will see sunny days and clear nights.”
Will it Ever Warm Up?
You can expect a difference in the temperature in days to come. It will look like a staircase of temperatures, every day getting warmer and warmer. Also, this temperature shift will impact the United States as well.

Spann said that the “last sub-freezing morning for a while will come on Wednesday... afternoon temperatures reach the 60s by Thursday and Friday. The week will be generally dry, although a few showers could show up by Friday.”
