Tuscaloosa Day Of Prayer Event Draws Good Crowd
Having attended the last few National Day of Prayer events in Tuscaloosa, I can report that the attendance was larger than in previous years.

Several of the most well-known Tuscaloosa citizens were present for the event, including Mayor Walt Maddox and Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Ron Abernathy. The program was well laid out, with individuals responsible for different areas of the West Alabama community.
Prayers were offered for local businesses, teachers, students, churches, and even requests from the crowd. It was inspiring to see the multi-racial crowd holding hands together and praying for each other. This event was not about denominations in the church or any particular group; it was open to all residents in the Tuscaloosa area.
The National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance designated by the United States Congress and held on the first Thursday of May, with people asked to "turn to God in prayer and meditation".
The area had other prayer events taking place today, including an observance in Brookwood, Alabama. The Brookwood event featured music and prayer, and Mayor Joe Barger was also in attendance.
