OK, this is just what we needed. I hate Tennessee week. It’s too good to be true, but it’s true, so we have something to be excited about. I wonder if the young college student who went on that rant about hating Tennessee and disliking Auburn ever imagined that, all these years later, it would still be played and watched all over the country.
Well, here comes another one that will be played for years and years to come. It starts with everybody’s favorite country star, and really I should stop saying that, and just say everybody’s favorite star from Alabama, or at least one of them right now. He’s currently a guest judge and contributor on the NBC hit show The Voice, and speaking of hits, he’s had plenty lately. I’m talking about Riley Green. And then we have Peyton Manning. I’m sorry, I know he’s a Tennessee guy, but I find it hard to dislike Peyton Manning. I’ll start with the fact that I’ve heard plenty of stories about what a generous, kind person he can be, and I love that in anyone. I also find him to be pretty darn funny, especially on that show with his brother on Monday Night Football, the ManningCast. I now like it better than watching the main Monday Night Football broadcast.
So Riley and Peyton have teamed up for a song about Tennessee Week. And it’s called “Alabama vs. Tennessee”.
Some of the lyrics talk about how “the world could learn a thing or two. from a couple good old boys like me and you, while Peyton is proud to pull for Knoxville, Riley says it’s about time for the tide to take the field. We may be on different sides, but we’re setting up rounds because it ain’t you going up against me. It’s Alabama versus Tennessee”.
I think we could learn a thing or two.
From anyone who sees that just because you’re on a different side doesn’t mean you can’t still have a beer together.
