We have major college towns in Alabama that might skew a study like this one.

Right?

Well, not exactly.

The study results come from 247wallst.com and they have a method to their madness.

The results are mostly based on binge drinking.

Binge drinking is a pretty big problem.

According to the CDC, one in six Americans indulges in binge drinking.

What is binge drinking?

It's defined as consuming five or more drinks on one occasion.

24/7 reviewed lots of data on men and women over 18 who drink heavily in each state.

So, what city is the drunkest city in the state of Alabama?

DAPHNE-FAIRHOPE-FOLEY

Anything close to Mobile is definitely a drinkin' town.

Nothing that comes out of Mobile is a shock any longer.

Mobile has some crazy in it!

The Daphne-Fairhope-Foley metro area has a rate of 19% of adults who drink excessively.

Don't feel bad about this because Florida has a bunch of towns that are drunker than any city in Alabama.

What state has the highest rate of drinking excessively?

IOWA is #1.

I didn't see that one coming.

DUBUQUE has a rate of 27% of adults who drink heavily.
