Local West Alabama law enforcement agencies are closing out 2023 with another push to recruit and hire for multiple positions.

The Tuscaloosa Thread has already reported on the efforts to hire officers to help reverse the issue of the Tuscaloosa Police Department being understaffed in 2023.

As we wrap up the year, the TPD is trying to encourage experienced officers and recruits to join the force in 2024.

In addition, the Tuscaloosa County Civil Service Board is also looking to fill a position for a Crime Scene Investigator, according to their social media.

The popularity of shows like CSI (and all the spinoffs) has glamorized the job of a Crime Scene Investigator even though the starting pay for the position is a little over $49,000.

However, the ads posted by the Tuscaloosa Police Department state that pay for veteran officers transferring into the department can exceed $66,000.

If you are interested in the TPD job openings you can apply and get more details at jointuscaloosapd.com.
