Homeschool Students Get Real Radio Experience at Townsquare
Townsquare Media had some special guests in the building as students from C&J Resources, a local homeschool and tutoring center, stopped by for a hands on radio experience. For the program’s owner, this was bigger than a tour.

“Today’s visit to the radio station was important because it provided our homeschool students with real world exposure beyond the classroom,” she said. “At C&J Resources we believe learning should be hands on, engaging, and connected to career pathways.”
Students saw how communication, technology, and media operate behind the scenes and even stepped up to the microphone themselves. The goal was simple but powerful — helping them understand how literacy and communication skills connect to real professions.
“Experiences like this reinforce what we teach daily. Reading, writing, speaking, and technology skills truly matter in the real world,” she added.
C&J Resources is intentional about exposure. Students have also participated in hands on STEM learning at the McWane Science Center and workshops with the University of Alabama Transportation Institute, aligning every trip with literacy, math, STEM, and career readiness goals.
“Field trips are not just outings, they are strategic extensions of our curriculum,” she explained.
With measurable success, including students improving reading and math by one to two grade levels, C&J Resources continues proving that strong instruction paired with real world exposure creates lasting impact.
