Alabama’s Most-Searched President May Surprise You

With Independence Day celebrations underway and America approaching its 250th birthday, a new study is highlighting which U.S. presidents and vice presidents Americans have been searching for the most online.

According to a Google Trends analysis by Elemetal, Alabama's most-searched president over the past 12 months was John Quincy Adams. The study also found William Rufus King, the only vice president from Alabama, was the state's most-searched vice president.

Researchers analyzed Google Trends search interest for every U.S. president and vice president who has served since 2000, examining search activity in all 50 states.

The results also showed that many states searched most for presidents with strong local ties. Abraham Lincoln topped searches in Illinois, where he built his political career. Andrew Jackson led in Tennessee, Dwight D. Eisenhower was the most-searched president in Kansas, Lyndon B. Johnson ranked first in Texas, Harry S. Truman topped Missouri and George Washington was the most-searched president in Virginia.

According to Elemetal, some states favored presidents because of their historical connections to the region, while others appeared to search based on national legacy or historical significance.

The study was released as Americans prepare to celebrate the nation's 250th anniversary, offering a patriotic look at which historical leaders continue to capture public interest across the country.
