Tuscaloosa is getting ready to celebrate culture, legacy and community in a powerful way.

The Tuscaloosa Public Library’s Weaver Bolden Branch will host its Third Annual Black History Celebration on Saturday, February 21, bringing together families, leaders, artists and local businesses for a morning rooted in reflection and pride.

This year’s theme, “A Century of Black History Commemorations,” highlights 100 years of honoring Black excellence, resilience and achievement across the country. Organizers say the goal is not only to look back, but to celebrate the voices and vision shaping the future right here in West Alabama.

The event will feature performances from Voices on the Move and Drum Nation, along with a dynamic lineup of local artists, businesses and community resource partners. Attendees will also hear from featured speakers including Mr. McKinley Hatcher, Ms. LeAnna Roberts and other impactful presenters who are expected to inspire and educate.

The celebration runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Weaver Bolden Branch Library and the McKenzie Court Community Center, creating space for both learning and fellowship.

Organizers invite the entire community, young and seasoned, to come out and experience the energy, the culture and the connection that makes this annual celebration special.

It is more than an event. It is a reminder that Black history is living history, and Tuscaloosa continues to play a part in writing the next chapter.
