Two people were shot and injured near Lake Tuscaloosa Friday night and both are expected to survive, according to preliminary information from law enforcement.

Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, said the shooting took place sometime on Friday night, although he did not have more exact information Sunday morning.

Kennedy said two individuals were shot in the area of Marina Drive in Northport, which is off Highway 43 on Lake Tuscaloosa.

Kennedy did not have any details to share about how the shooting happened, but said police believe both people suffered injuries that are not life-threatening.
