Emergency crews have cleared Highway 216 (Old Birmingham Highway) at the Keenes Mill Road intersection and traffic is moving again after a Tuscaloosa City School bus and a pickup truck collided at about 7:45 this morning.
The bus left the roadway and ploughed into a yard more than 50 feet from the intersection. It took wrecker crews some time to remove the bus from the yard where it came to rest after the collision.

Seven students and the driver who were on board the bus at the time of the crash were transported to DCH Regional Medical Center with what were reported as minor injuries.
The remaining students were taken to Bryant High School, where nurses at the school assessed their needs.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation by an accident reconstruction team.
Tuscaloosa City Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Daria voiced relief that the crash was not more serious, “We’re just thankful that she (the school bus driver) controlled the bus the way she did,” said Daria. Adding that everyone is thankful it ended with only minor injuries.
The intersection was closed for almost two hours as responders evacuated students and the driver from the bus and cleaned up the roadway.
This past April, a Tuscaloosa County school bus carrying 10 students from Davis-Emerson Middle School in Cottondale was involved in a crash with a lawn care vehicle on Jack Warner Parkway, and four people were transported for treatment.
