If the long snapper position has never crossed your mind when it come to Alabama football, it’s probably because it has not been an issue in recent years. Thomas Fletcher has been Alabama’s long snapper since 2017, and he was perfect on all attempts his entire career. There is now discussion of him being drafted into the NFL, and for long snappers, that is not discussed often as they are normally picked up as free agents.

Redshirt junior Jake Hall stepped into the position during the 2021 A-Day game. Sure, there are big shoes to fill, but Hall seems up to the task as he snapped perfectly for both the Crimson and White teams.

Hall hails from Saraland, Alabama where he played center and long snapped for the football team at Saraland High School. His 6-foot-3, 238 pound frame will definitely be beneficial for making tackles on punt coverage, which is a bonus stat for long snappers.

Kicker Will Reichard was perfect on the 2020 season, and it is partly because of the consistent snaps from Fletcher. When they aren’t getting talked about, that’s when you know a long snapper is doing his job.

Hall looks to step into the special teams role and continue what Fletcher did so well. He’s off to a good start, as a flawless A-Day performance is behind him. There is another long snapper on the roster in redshirt sophomore Gabe Pugh, but Hall seems to be leading for the role at this point after being the go-to for the A-Day scrimmage.
