Severe Weather Saturday
The Storm Prediction Center has nearly all of West Alabama under a Marginal Risk – Level 1 out of 5 for Saturday, August 1. At this time, the risk area does not include the southernmost portion of Greene, Hale, Perry, and Sumter counties.
Damaging winds with gusts up to 60 mph are the main threats, said the National Weather Service in Birmingham. Also, the system's timing is currently Saturday afternoon into the evening.
James Spann, Alabama Weather Network Chief Meteorologist, said, “Heavier storms tomorrow will be capable of producing strong wind gusts and frequent lightning. Precipitable water values will be very high, so there will be some good downpours.”
