Jaylen Waddle Honors First Responders With ‘Raising Canes’
The state of Texas is in turmoil due to a dangerous winter storm that has swept across the state. Homes are left without power and water creating a dangerous situation for residents everywhere. First responders have been hard at work attempting to restore power and serve as many people as possible.
Former Alabama Crimson Tide football player and Houston native, Jaylen Waddle decided to partner with popular fried chicken restaurant 'Raising Canes' to serve dinner to 150 first responders and front line workers. The future NFL player is showing his generous spirit by giving back to the community in time of need.
Waddle is projected to be a top 15 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft despite enduring a broken ankle during the 2020 season. Several teams in the top 15 could use a dynamic wide receiver of Waddle's quality, particularly the Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants. Waddle averaged 21.1 yards per reception this past season in the six games he was able to participate in.
In his three seasons with the Crimson Tide he hauled in 106 receptions for 1999 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also electrified on special teams with three touchdown returns, two off punts and one on a kickoff.
Raising Canes only has one location in Tuscaloosa, located on the Alabama campus in Paty Hall. It had been closed during the COVID-19 pandemic but re-opened last month.
