We all have someone we look up to. For me that person is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.  I’m talking about the basketball player not the football player.  By the way where is the football player?  The first time I saw the football player I thought he was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s son.

The first time I saw Kareem he was Lew Alcindor and played for UCLA.  While he was at UCLA they won three consecutive national championships and he was MVP of the NCAA tournament times.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar had quadruple coronary bypass surgery Thursday. He was diagnosed with cardiovascular disease earlier in the week.  Here’s what a press release from UCLA said:

“At this time, Abdul-Jabbar would like to thank his surgical team and the medical staff at UCLA, his alma mater, for the excellent care he has received. He is looking forward to getting back to his normal activities soon. ‘He asks that you keep him in your thoughts and, most importantly, cherish and live each day to its fullest.

I’m praying for my favorite basketball player of all time. Get well Kareem!
