October 30th, 2002 was the day that the world of Hip Hop lost an icon as the legendary Jam Master Jay of Run DMC was gunned down in a recording studio in Jamaica Queen, New York.

Now close to the 18th anniversary of his death (2) men were indicted in his killing which was one of New York City's most notorious unsolved killings per the Associated Press.

Court papers identified Ronald "Tenad" Washington as the accomplice of a second unidentified gunman who shot Jason Mizell inside a New York recording studio in 2002.


A spokesman from the Mizell family spoken out on the news for the first time identifying the suspect publicly.

We're relieved there's some information coming out, although we understand that it's not the full story.

Jam Master Jay was killed in his Queens recording studio on October 30, 2002 per Billboard.  A man in a black sweat suit appeared embraced Mizell pulled out a gun and started shooting.

The first shot missed, but the second shot at point blank range struck him in the head killing him as the shooter vanished.

Jam Master Jay is knowing for being the DJ for the iconic rap group Run DMC with Joseph "Run" Simmons, and Darryl "DMC" McDaniels in 1982.

He is also know for having his own record label Jam Master Jay Records which is known for signing artist like Onyx and 50 Cent.
