A local guidance counselor's social media posts have gone viral for what many parents feel is offensive content.

Posts from Rock Quarry Elementary School Guidance Counselor Miranda Little have been shared to both Facebook and Twitter, and after being brought to the attention of the Tuscaloosa City School System, both TCS and Superintendent Mike Daria stated they will be investigating the situation and taking appropriate actions.

No disciplinary action has been announced yet, and several Facebook users commented that the posts in question have since been deleted.

Dr Daria....

Posted by Ashley Guthrie Nicholson on Wednesday, June 10, 2020

As the guidance counselor for Rock Quarry Elementary School, Little had a Facebook page used to communicate with parents and students; however, that page appears to have been deleted.

Ashley Nicholson, a local parent who shared screenshots of the posts to Facebook, said she felt disappointed when seeing the posts from Little.

"As a parent I felt anger and sadness knowing that this is supposed to be a child’s counselor. I have to speak out about her actions. You can’t look the other way. We have to hold each other accountable. I have faith that Dr. Daria will do what is right. I believe that she needs to be terminated immediately," she said.

When reached for comment, a representative for Tuscaloosa City Schools said, "We are in receipt of the concerns and are looking into the matter at this time."
