U.S. Senator Richard Shelby announced a $15 million grant to the City of Tuscaloosa to improve the Riverwalk area Thursday.

The money is being provided by the US Department of Transportation through its Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development, or BUILD, grant program.

“I am proud to announce that Alabama has been awarded two BUILD grants, one to improve infrastructure investments in Tuscaloosa and a planning grant to assist the Wiregrass region,” Shelby said.  "Both BUILD grants will provide important federal resources that will improve infrastructure and promote increased economic development opportunities in Alabama."
