These Southern Beach Towns Feel Like Vacation Daily
Dreaming of a summer beach trip, or want to make that dream a permanent living situation. Southern Living has gifted us the best six southern beach towns that “offer year-round livability so you can live on vacation.”

Florida Beach Towns
Alys Beach
Sara Becnel, a real estate developer, owner of The Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, and president of Sandestin Investments, told Southern Living that Alys Beach is a favorite. “Everything is designed for walking and being outside, whether you’re heading to Caliza Pool, biking along 30A, or making your way to the Beach Club.”
Fort Lauderdale
I grew up 30 minutes from Fort Lauderdale, and I still argue that Pompano Beach and Deerfield Beach are the better choices for South Florida beaches. However, Fort Lauderdale does have tons to offer.
Jenni Morejon, president and CEO of the Fort Lauderdale Downtown Development Authority, told Southern Living that “over the past decade, it has transitioned from a seasonal getaway into a place where people are intentionally choosing to live, work, and invest.”
Jupiter & Tequesta
“Jupiter and neighboring Tequesta sit where the Loxahatchee River meets the Atlantic Ocean, marked by pristine turquoise seas and bright green mangroves,” said Southern Living.
Miramar Beach
Located in the panhandle, it is a perfect year-round beach town. I love the fact that you can get around by bike or golf cart.
North Carolina Beach Town
Ocean Isle Beach
“Ocean Isle Beach is the kind of classic Southern beach town locals like to keep to themselves,” said Southern Living. “With a wide, flat shoreline, pastel beach houses, and a slower pace, it’s refreshingly unfussy.”
I’ve personally visited Ocean Isle Beach, and it does move at a slower pace. The beach is nice, but it's very different from the beaches in Florida and Alabama.
Alabama Beach Town
Fairhope
Becnel told Southern Living that “Fairhope is one of those places that just feels easy to live in. It’s less about being a beach town and more about being a real community on the water.
