If you're already feeling the Christmas spirit, good! If that includes Christmas music, even better.

The renowned Stillman College Choir will present its annual Christmas Concert at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec., 3, in Birthright Alumni Hall on the Stillman College campus (3601 Stillman Blvd). The concert, a community favorite, will also feature choir alumni. Admission is free and donations are accepted.

A press release for the event states:

One of the private college’s most beloved traditions, the candlelight concert will be set in a festive backdrop of sparkling tress, lights and garland, said Stillman Director of Choral Activities Jocqueline Richardson.

“The show will feature music from the traditional Hallelujah Chorus to modern-day Christmas favorites sung by guest soloists and the professional collegiate choir,” Richardson said. Among the guest soloists is Thomas Davis Jr., who three times placed first at Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, N.Y.

The Stillman College Choir includes students who major in music as well as in other fields. The choir’s repertoire includes a variety of sacred and secular choral literature from the Renaissance to contemporary periods in music history. The large choral ensemble performs at college events, local and regional churches, and special events throughout the academic year and has performed in San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Houston, Galveston, San Antonio, Nashville, and in Tuscaloosa’s sister city, Schorndorf, Germany.

Richardson directed choral music more than 40 years in the Tuscaloosa city schools, where the choirs received many awards and rankings as one of the nation’s top choral programs.
