Sunday Morning Hurricane Dorian Update

Alabama will feel no effects from Hurricane Dorian.  However, I will keep my attention to Dorian as it has been upgraded to a category 5 hurricane at 8 a.m. (EDT).  Currently, it is approaching the Abaco Islands.  Dorian should impact the Grand Bahama Island later today.  The concern for this area is the dangerous storm surge that could reach as high as 20 feet over sea level.  Hurricane-force winds can be felt outward of 30 miles.  Tropical storm forces winds can be felt 105 miles outward.

Here is a list of the most recent warning and watches:

A Hurricane Warning is in effect for Northwestern Bahamas excluding Andros Island.

A Hurricane Watch is in effect for Andros Island.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for North of Deerfield Beach to Sebastian Inlet.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for North of Golden Beach to Deerfield Beach.

Additional warning and watches could be issued for Florida later today.
